Francois Coty “Give a woman the best product you can, market it in the perfect bottle, beautiful in its simplicity yet impeccable in taste, ask a reasonable price for it, and you will witness the birth of a business the size of which the world has never seen.” Prophetic words from the founder of Coty, Francois Coty, in 1904. This was the year the company was first established, in Paris, France. His ambition was to revolutionize a fragrance industry that had seen little change in over a century. Coty understood that in order to acquire mass appeal, he need to offer a product that had all the trappings of luxury, yet was affordable at a variety of price points. The philosophy worked; by the 1920's the company that bore his name had expanded throughout Europe and the Americas. For the first time in history women from all walks of life were able to acquire perfumes and beauty products of a quality that had   previously been the exclusive privilege of the wealthy elite. By 1925, an estimated 36 million women around the world were enjoying Coty products.
