Chanel

The House of Chanel is designer to some of the most coveted high-end clothes, accessories and perfumes. Its founder, Jeanne Gabrielle Chanel was born on August 19, 1883. Somewhere in between, she became a singer at La Rotunde where she crooned the likes of “Ko Ko Ko Ri Ko” and “Who's Seen Coco in the Trocadero.” From then she was lovingly dubbed “Coco”, a nickname that she would be known by, for the rest of her life.

Cacharel

Cacharel was founded in 1962 by Jean Bousquet in La Marais, Paris. Bousquet was born in 1932 to a father who was a sewing machine salesman. At the age of 15 he became an apprentice to a tailor. In 1958 he opened his own shop which tailored men's shirts, but by 1962, he had decided to specialize in women's fashion. Cacharel is the namesake of a bird mostly found in the south of France.

Guerlain

The Guerlain perfume house is as old as the hills. It is one of the oldest perfume houses and was founded in 1828 by Pierre-François Pascal Guerlain. The house had its beginnings in a small perfume store on rue de Rivoli, Paris. Guerlain immediately gained popularity with the 'who's who' of high class society. He made custom perfumes and built a loyal customer base.

The House of Givenchy was founded in 1952 and was the brainchild of Hubert de Givenchy . The house dubs the “Givenchy style” as a fusion of two cultures, “French elegance and American glamour.” Its perfume house, Les Parfums Givenchy was launched in 1957.

Slavatore Ferragamo was born in 1898 in the province of Avellino, into a family of 14 children. His family resided in Bonito, a small, enchanting town between valleys, and at the top of a hill. He began his phenomenal career an a shoemaker apprentice at the ripe age of 11.

Pierre Cardin

Pierre Cardin has won worldwide acclaim as a visionary of multiple talents. He is recognized as a high class designer whose elegant fragrances are sold in over 3000 stores. Cardin's entrance into the perfume industry 35 years ago was the beginning of a fragrance enterprise that continues to thrive and evolve to this very day.

Bvlgari

A mouthful to say if you've never encountered it, but Bvlgari is a one of the classiest perfume houses around. The brand is named after its Greek creator Sotirio Bulgari but the spelling 'Bvulgari' has ancient Roman roots. The company was officially registered in 1884. Its first store attracted wealthy socialites from all over the world for its Greek and Roman inspired jewelery, with a modern twist. The brand has now extended its repertoire to hotels, watches, handbags, and accessories.

Alfred Sung is a world renowned designer who is known for his elegant bridal dresses and sensational perfume range. The Hong Kong-born Canadian businessman is quiet, shy and lives a very private life. As a young man, he was an aspiring artist, but moved to Paris to study couture then later to New York, attending the Parson's School of Design for a year. His working career began in Seventh Avenue in New York's Garment District. In 1927 Sung made the move to Toronto, Canada, where he started out as a junior designer on Spadina Avenue for Lidzon Ltd.

Alexandre Napoleon Bourjois began his company as a make up manufacturer in France, 1863. He was a pioneer and developed the world's first powder blush, Pastel Joues. It was primarily used in theater and proved to be a hit with models and actresses. Bourjois' success soared, and this revolutionary make up spread around the world, taking women's dressing tables by storm.
