You're thinking that you know what carnations smell like and you're ready to skip the rest of this paragraph. But wait. Not so fast. Perfumer Mona di Orio has burst onto the fragrance scene with a stunning fragrance inspired by the carnation, but without employing one single carnation note. The result is a sultry, spicy, ambery aroma of bergamot, clove, geranium, ylang ylang, violet, jasmine, precious woods, musk, amber and styrax that easily reminds me of earlier Guerlain fragrances, circa 1920 (Aedes.com).
